Community Medical Laboratory Services

Gamma-Dynacare supports more than ten thousand community-based Canadian clinicians with our specimen collection, transportation, testing and results reporting services. Each year, Gamma-Dynacare performs millions of tests for these clients using the latest methods and state-of-the-art instrumentation. All testing is performed by qualified medical laboratory technologists and technicians supported by a dedicated team of medical and scientific professional staff. Gamma-Dynacare’s core services to clinicians include:

As one of the largest providers of medical diagnostic services in Canada, Gamma-Dynacare is at the forefront of offering new diagnostic tests to Canadians. Our team of scientists and laboratorians is continuously examining and qualifying new tests to better help clinicians diagnose and treat disease. We have been instrumental in the early delivery of new tests in the areas of allergy, cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, men’s health, osteoporosis, paternity, ulcers and other problems of the stomach and intestines, women’s health, and more.

To provide Canadians with the newest available tests, Gamma-Dynacare has developed relationships with a number of research companies dedicated to the creation of new genetic and immune system–based diagnostic tests, tests with greater specificity and tests with greater sensitivity.

Related services include health surveillance programs (in-house and outsourced), executive health programs and services, medical diagnostic and substance abuse testing, phlebotomy, spirometry, cardiovascular investigations and in-service training.

We assist employers, Employee Assistance Program managers, professionals, company medical directors and occupational health clinicians to design wellness programs that reduce absenteeism and the costs of an unhealthy workforce.

As companies focus on safer, more productive workplaces, lower insurance rates and wellness in general, they turn to substance abuse testing as part of a wellness program. Gamma-Dynacare offers such testing for both regulated (US Department of Transportation – DOT) and non-regulated industries.

Gamma-Dynacare was one of the first private laboratories accredited by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) as a forensic urine drug-screening laboratory. Gamma-Dynacare is now one of only three Canadian laboratories accredited by the DOT, through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the certifying agency for forensic substance abuse testing for clients requiring US regulatory approval.

At Gamma-Dynacare we customize the services we offer based on the specific needs of the client institution. In the case of acute care hospitals, where full testing services might not be required, we offer:

• Cytology support that may include any of the following: technical preparation, technologist screening and medical interpretation;
  
• Histology support that may include either of the following: technical preparation and medical interpretation;
  
• Parasitology support that may include either of the following: technical preparation and professional interpretation;
  
• Other specialized testing services, including chemistry, haematology, mycology and tuberculosis screening;
  
• Materials Management services.
